Piggy Build Mode Guide

Build Mode is MiniToon’s in-game creator suite for custom Piggy maps, cutscenes, and NPC encounters. Separate from voting House or Alleys in the main lobby, Build Mode lets you place blocks, wire events, choose bots, and invite friends into private or public servers. This guide covers the basics players actually search for in 2026: placing and testing, NPC tools, the owned skins as bots update, privacy settings, and why collectors grind Build Mode NPCs such as Mrs. P.

Build Mode does not replace learning real chapters—use Getting Started and chapter walkthroughs first. Skin collectors should also read Secret Skins and How to get skins.

What Build Mode is for

  • Prototype fan chapters and obstacle courses with Piggy rules (keys, traps, escapes).
  • Host practice arenas (trap corridors, ability drills) without public lobby noise.
  • Shoot intro/ending scenes with music and camera-style beats.
  • Showcase owned skins as the map bot after the 2026 creator updates.
  • Unlock and place special NPC rewards earned from quests (Mrs. P NPC is the famous example).

It is not a substitute for exploits or script hubs—those violate Roblox Terms. Build Mode is the supported creativity path.

Entering and hosting

From Piggy’s main menus, open Build Mode, create or load a save, then set privacy:

PrivacyWho can join
PrivateOnly you
FriendsYou + Roblox friends
PublicAnyone browsing public Build maps

Start Private while you learn placement. Switch Friends when you need playtesters. Go Public only after spawns, escapes, and kill barriers are intentional—not invisible death floors.

Hosts typically select the gamemode directly (Bot, Player, and others) instead of relying on lobby votes. Forcing Hard Mode or first-person hard rules can disable survivor abilities even on Bot—call that out in your map description.

Placing the basics

Geometry and gameplay blocks

Build Mode catalogs include floors, walls, doors, colored key locks, item pads, escape pieces, damage volumes, and logic helpers (triggers, powered blocks, cure-related pieces on advanced maps). Workflow that saves hours:

  1. Block out survivor spawn, Piggy spawn, and a visible escape first.
  2. Add one complete key→lock chain and playtest before decorating.
  3. Place item spawn pads with deliberate pools—random junk without a solution frustrates testers.
  4. Add traps or bot patrols only after the sober escape works in under a few minutes for a knowing player.

Powered blocks and optimization passes continue to evolve; if a door ignores a wrench panel, check wiring and update notes on Updates after patches.

Testing loop

Play as survivor, then as Piggy, every time you change an objective. Spectate friends to spot invisible walls and unfair trap carpets. Keep a “known clear” path so you can verify you did not soft-lock the map.

NPCs and the NPC Creator

Build Mode includes menu-driven NPC tools:

  • Drop official NPC characters earned through quests and events.
  • Use the NPC Creator to customize appearance (Roblox marketplace item IDs, palette colors) and assign sound asset IDs for notices, ambience, or attacks.
  • Save NPC presets into slots so you can reuse a cast across maps.

Friendly NPCs can stun or distract bots the way Doggy, Pony, or Zizzy do in campaign chapters—great for tutorial maps. Hostile or specialty NPCs (including quest-gated ones) let you rebuild campaign moments or invent new ones.

Why players hunt the Mrs. P NPC

Mrs. P exists both as a playable secret skin (Bittersweet / Plant-related questline) and as a separate Build Mode NPC unlock. The NPC requires its own note/page-style quest after the skin path—community guides stress that owning the skin badge alone is not enough. Creators want the NPC because she enables distinctive scripted encounters (speed/slow phases, interactions with other NPCs, showcase maps themed around Mr. P / Mrs. P lore).

If you only want cosmetics for Player mode, follow How to get skins. If you want her as a placeable Build actor, budget time for the NPC quest steps and Player + Bot segments those guides mention.

Owned skins as bots (2026)

A major quality-of-life drop for creators:

  • February 2026 quietly allowed selecting owned skins as the Build Mode bot.
  • March 2026 Build Mode Update officially expanded use owned skins as map bot and improved owned-skin support on NPC blocks, plus powered-block optimization tests and assorted bug fixes.

In bot skin settings you can pick campaign bots or choose from skins you already own. That means your Distorted, Sentinel, Willow, Mrs. P, or shop staples can hunt testers on a custom layout without waiting for that skin to be a canonical chapter bot.

Caveats creators hit in practice

  • Some elaborate skins (Mrs. P, Hornz, Vulture, and similar) have had broken walk/jumpscare/stun animations when forced as the primary bot—test before a public release.
  • Non-standard bots may fall back to generic notice sounds when used via equipped-skin shortcuts.
  • Owning a skin still matters: the feature reads your inventory, so collaborators need their own unlocks to showcase the same hunter.

This update is why Build Mode doubled as a skin museum: clear a secret, then immediately starring it as the bot on your horror hallway.

Scenes, music, and presentation

Use scene tools for intros, endings, and alternate endings—rename scenes, attach music, and sequence reveals the way Book chapters do. A clean thirty-second intro with a readable objective beats a ten-minute unskippable cutscene. Keep accessibility in mind: not every player hears audio cues, so pair stingers with visible markers.

Good map design habits

  • One lesson per map when teaching (crouch vents, or battery puzzles, or traitor practice)—not all at once.
  • Readable color locks matching main-game language so Piggy veterans transfer skills.
  • Fair trap density; carpeting every tile teaches rage, not respect.
  • Credits and difficulty in the description (Bot recommended, abilities disabled, estimated clear time).
  • Version after patches; Build Mode bugfixes land in the same cadence as campaign updates—retest owned-skin bots after big drops.

Practice ideas worth hosting

  1. Trap hallway using only Slow + Alarm for new Piggy players.
  2. Ability gym: Mag Glass spawns + Decoy trap strips (abilities off if you force Hard Mode—say so).
  3. Recreation of Station’s battery→gas loop at smaller scale.
  4. Skin showcase Bot using your rarest owned unlock.
  5. Mrs. P NPC interaction demo once unlocked, for friends chasing the same quest.

Build Mode rewards the same virtues as campaign Piggy: clear objectives, honest difficulty, and respect for the player’s time. Place the escape first, star the skins you earned, and let Mrs. P NPC maps be a flex you actually unlocked—not a downloaded script. When your friends scream at a fair trap instead of an invisible wall, you have built something worthy of the Lucella name.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What is Piggy Build Mode?

An in-game creator tool for custom maps, scenes, NPCs, and hosted rounds with Piggy-style keys, bots, and escapes.

Can I use my owned skins as the bot?

Yes. 2026 Build Mode updates let you select owned skins as the map bot and improved owned-skin support on NPC blocks.

Is the Mrs. P skin the same as the Mrs. P NPC?

No. The playable skin and the Build Mode NPC are separate unlocks. Completing the skin quest alone does not grant the NPC.

What privacy options exist?

Private (only you), Friends (you and Roblox friends), and Public (open to other players browsing Build maps).

Why are abilities disabled on my Build map?

Hosting with Hard Mode or forced first-person hard rules disables abilities regardless of the chapter layout.

Where do I learn how to unlock skins for Build bots?

See How to get skins and the Secret Skins guide, then equip those unlocks when choosing the Build Mode bot.
