Piggy Gamemodes Guide

Gamemodes decide whether Piggy feels like a puzzle, a competitive hunt, or a social-deduction riot. In MiniToon’s Piggy (place 4623386862), the lobby votes a chapter and a mode before the round starts. This guide goes deeper than a one-line chart: how Bot, Player, Player + Bot, Infection, Traitor, Swarm, and Tag change energy rules, bot count, and the value of survivor abilities versus traps.

Keep Controls open for Q/R/F and crouch binds while you practice. Map drills still matter—modes amplify mistakes, they do not invent new keys.

Bot

Bot is the default teacher. An AI wears the chapter’s canonical skin (Penny on House, Mother on Station, Rash on Alleys, and so on), wakes after the survivor head start, and pathfinds without placing player traps.

Survivor tips

  • Learn item order without Alarm traps on every wrench panel.
  • Practice crouch breaks and audio reads.
  • Call items even in Bot—habits transfer to Player.

Hunter mindset (when you later play Player)

  • Watch where bots fail: survivors abuse long pathfind around acid, vents, and multi-floor jails. Human Piggy should cut those loops with traps.

Vote Bot for every new chapter before you touch Swarm.

Player

One human is Piggy with skin choice and a three-trap loadout fueled by the energy bar. If that player leaves, a bot may replace them mid-round.

Survivor tips

  • Assume forced objectives are trapped: battery boxes, digit pads, wells, garage mouths, exit halls.
  • Bring Decoy or Warp once unlocked; Mag Glass still wins early Book maps.
  • Split so one player baits while another finishes the panel.

Piggy tips

  • Pre-place cheap Slow/Default traps on inevitable paths; save Black Hole / Big costs for clustered exits.
  • Face-camp less; third-person wall peeks and rotate between two objectives.
  • Study the traps tier list for loadout opinions, then verify costs on the trap reference.

Player mode is where skin flex meets real pressure—cosmetics do not change move speed the way traps do.

Player + Bot

A human Piggy plus an AI bot. Dual pressure deletes “safe half of the map” thinking. Some story or skin quests historically required this mode for specific setups (always confirm the current quest text).

Survivor tips

  • Finish early chain keys before both hunters converge.
  • Abilities that reveal Piggy players help more than pure Sprint spam.
  • Expect less forgiveness on Alleys exit resets and Station gas carries.

Piggy tips

  • Let the bot occupy one floor while you trap the other.
  • Do not mirror the bot’s chase; cover the objective the bot is ignoring.

Treat Player + Bot as a graduation exam after comfortable Player clears.

Infection

Caught survivors join the infected side. Traps are typically disabled—energy play shifts toward abilities and raw map control. Rounds snowball: one early death can flip a lobby.

Survivor tips

  • Space out; never triple-stack a single key room.
  • Prioritize escape progress over heroic revenges.
  • Mag Glass / Team Mag Glass compress the timer before the infected count explodes.

Infected tips

  • Cut escapes as a group; funnel survivors into dead ends instead of solo hero chases.
  • Communicate who covers exit versus who sweeps spawns.

Infection rewards composure more than trap theory.

Traitor

One survivor is secretly the Traitor. That player’s ability icons become traps—a major deduction tell if teammates are paying attention. Traitor wins by sabotaging the escape and eliminating survivors under social cover.

Innocent survivor tips

  • Watch who never uses Mag Glass or Sprint but suddenly places a Slow trap.
  • Do not hand exclusive items (gas, white key, final code) to the quietest player without a second set of eyes.
  • Call locations publicly so Traitor misinformation is harder.

Traitor tips

  • Place traps that look like “Piggy leftovers” on second paths, not obvious spawn camping in the first thirty seconds.
  • Fake helpful calls, then cut the real exit when the lobby commits.
  • Energy pacing still matters—blown ten-cost traps announce you as hard as a confession.

Traitor is the mode where Controls literacy (who has traps versus abilities) becomes a social skill.

Swarm

Swarm starts like a bot chapter, then extra bots spawn as time passes. The map fills. Early progress is mandatory; sightseeing loses rounds.

Survivor tips

  • Assign roles in the first minute: keys, power tools, code/gas.
  • Spend energy on information early (Mag Glass) so you are not still searching when the third bot arrives.
  • Skip optional gun flexes unless a stun gates the exit animation.

Practice path

Clear the same chapter on Bot → Player → Player + Bot → Swarm. Skipping ahead teaches panic, not routes.

Tag

Tag uses tag-style role swapping and often disables abilities. Your carefully farmed Warp kit will not save you—movement, crouch, and item discipline dominate.

Tips

  • Relearn pacing without Sprint crutches.
  • Play for map geometry and line-of-sight breaks.
  • If icons are missing, confirm you actually voted Tag before assuming a bug (Hard Mode and some event chapters also strip abilities).

Build Mode note

Private Build Mode servers let hosts pick modes directly for playtests. Creators often force Hard Mode or first-person rules that disable abilities even on Bot. Details live on Build Mode.

Mode voting etiquette

  • Learners: ask for Bot on new chapters.
  • Do not force Swarm on a lobby still stuck on House green key.
  • Ending runners: state Player + Bot requirements up front.
  • Traitor lobbies: agree on voice/chat rules so accusations stay fun.

Practice routine

  1. Bot every new map until escapes are boring.
  2. One Player round focusing only on trap awareness.
  3. One Infection for spacing habits.
  4. One Traitor as innocent observer—watch energy icon tells.
  5. Swarm only after Player + Bot feels fair.
  6. Tag as a palate cleanser when ability muscle memory gets stale.

Pick modes on purpose. Bot builds the map in your head; Player teaches respect; Infection and Traitor teach people; Swarm and Tag teach humility. Stack them in that order and Piggy stops feeling random.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Which Piggy gamemode is best for beginners?

Bot mode. An AI Piggy lets you learn chapter item routes before facing human traps or Swarm.

What is Player + Bot?

A human Piggy plus an AI bot hunt at once. It is high pressure and sometimes required for specific quest or ending setups.

Do traps work in Infection?

Infection usually disables traps. Focus on spacing, exits, and abilities instead of trap denial.

How do I spot the Traitor?

Traitors lose survivor abilities and gain traps. Players who suddenly place traps—or never use Mag Glass—are prime suspects.

Why are my abilities missing in Tag?

Tag commonly disables abilities. Confirm the voted mode and whether Hard Mode or a special chapter is also stripping your kit.

When should I try Swarm?

After you can clear the same chapter on Player and Player + Bot. Swarm adds bots over time, so early objective speed is mandatory.
